Paolo Barbi


Paolo Barbi (born August 23, 1919 in Trieste, Italy, June 10, 2011) is an Italian politician, longtime parliamentarian and activist of the Christian Democracy.

He studied philosophy at the Catholic University of Milan. He worked as a lecturer at the Nunziatella military academy in Naples. He became involved in the activities of Catholic organizations and Italian Christianity and became a member of the party executive. In the years 1958-1976 he held the mandate of a deputy to the Chamber of Deputies III, IV, V and VI term. Then, until 1979 he was a senator of the 7th term. In four governments he served as undersecretary of state in various ministries - industry (1968), budget (1969-1970), state treasury (1978-1979). In the first general election in 1979 he was elected to the European Parliament for the first term. From 1982 to 1984 he was the chairman of the Faction of the European People's Party. Bibliography
