Friedrich Christian


Wilhelm Christiani (born October 27, 1871 in Testama, Estonia) is a German librarian and philologist. Director of the Raczynski Library in Poznan.

He graduated from several universities: Tartu, Berlin and St. Petersburg. In Berlin, he studied Slavic literature with prof. Alexander Brückner. In St. Petersburg he worked for a short time at the Tsar's library and later at the university library in Tartu. From 1909 he stayed in Poznań, where he worked until 1913 at the Imperial Emperor's Library. In 1913 he took the position of director of the Raczynski Library for a short time (until 1914), where he was employed only temporarily. Before the outbreak of World War I he went to Russia.
