Georgi Cankow Weselinov (Bulgarian Георги Цанков Веселинов, born April 8, 1913 in Kytina, November 21, 1990 in Sofia) - Bulgarian Communist politician, Bulgarian Minister of Interior 1951-1962, Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria in 1962. < / p>
In 1932 he joined the Bulgarian Communist Party, working in trade unions under the influence of the Communists. He took part in the communist resistance movement during the Second World War, led the terrorist groups in Sofia from 1941 to 1944. After the communist takeover of power in Bulgaria in September 1944, he became general secretary of the Universal Workers' Union. 1948-1962 Member of the Central Committee of BPK, since 1954 also member of the Politburo of the BPK. 1947-1950 Member of the Presidium of the National Assembly. From January 6, 1951 to March 17, 1962, he was Minister of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria. He was responsible for mass persecution of the opposition and political terror. In 1962 he was briefly deputy.
