Indalo - a prehistoric magical symbol originating from the area of Andalusia.

The Indalo period, about 6,000 years ago, was discovered in 1868 by Antonio Gongónia y Martinez in the Los Letreros cave, located in the Las Vélez mountains near Vélez Blanco, in the province of Almería. It presents an anthropomorphic form with arms outstretched, in which it holds a bow extending above its head. Its meaning is uncertain, it is assumed that it is an image of a deity holding a rainbow. Perhaps it was a kind of protective amulet, designed to exorcise the evil powers.

Today the image of Indalo is the official symbol of the city of Mojácar and the province of Almería. It is considered a symbol of happiness and prosperity and widely used by the tourism industry, it can be found on various souvenirs from the region, t-shirts and keyrings.
