Tarnobrzeg Industrial District - an industrial district on the border of the Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie voivodships, and sometimes also the Lublin voivodeship (Janów Lubelski), which makes the area of the industrial district very strongly associated with the area of the former Tarnobrzeg province. It was established after 1957 in connection with the discovery of rich sulfur deposits in 1953 and the rise of the Tarnobrzeg Siberian Basin. It was based mainly on heavy industry. In the 1990s, the decline of the heavy industry market and the closure of the sulfur mines meant that the circle's importance declined. In order to reduce the social impact of the Siberian Depression, the Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone was created. Range The main centers of the district are: Stalowa Wola (Huta, Elektrownia), Tarnobrzeg (Siarkopol, Elektrownia), Sandomierz (Huta), Nisko, Staszów, Janów Lubelski, Gorzyce, Połaniec (Power Plant), Grzybów (Sulfur mine), Jeziórko (sulfur mine), Skopanie (factory of curtains). Sometimes it is added: Mielec. It is a mistake to include Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, which is part of the Staropolski Industrial District. Tourism
A new idea for revitalizing the region is the promotion of tourism (including religious tourism) and creation of new jobs based on services. Important centers are: Sandomierz, Baranów Sandomierski, Opatów, Tarnobrzeg, Koprzywnica, Klimontów, Ujazd (Krzyżtopór). Most of the investment is related to the revitalization of historical objects, the creation of tourist and pilgrimage routes (eg Małopolska St. James Way) and the use of post-industrial areas for recreational purposes (Lake Tarnobrzeskie). The definition of the Tarnobrzeg Industrial District is increasingly becoming a historical term.
