Ryszard Błędowski


Rycerka Górna is a village in Poland, in the province of Silesia, in the Żywiec poviat, in the Rajcza commune. In the years 1975-1998, the town was administratively part of the Bielsko province.

Position

It is located in the Żywiec Beskid (Grupa Wielki Racza). The buildings and fields of the village occupy the valley of Rycerski Potok and its tributaries - the streams of Radecki and Plaskerówka. The village lies at the border with Slovakia. History

Founded at the beginning of the 17th century under the name Radeczka, first mentioned in 1628. The village had 19 "zaratniks" at that time. It was a Wallachian settlement, based on turning up - burning the forest under pastoralism. The area of ​​the activity of highwaymen in the 17th and 18th centuries. The location was favorable to the trade route leading to Slovakia and Austria. In the area of ​​Rycerki, he worked, among others Maciej Wakuła, after the shot put on a stake, and Jerzy Proćpak. After the First Partition of Poland, Rycerka Górna became part of the Austrian Partition. In 1808, the village was taken by Count Ludwik Delaveaux who, fascinated with the local folk culture, described it in the work "Highlanders of the Bieskid of the western range of the Carpathians". After the village became a property of the Habsburgs, the development of the wood industry (sawmills, manufacture of household appliances, etc.). In the mid-19th century, a glassworks was established in the town. In 1873, the Rycerka Górna-Kolonia village was founded, currently it is the highest part of the Rycerka Górna village. Initially settlers from Austria settled it. The school in the village was founded before 1868 (the exact date is not known). In 1908 a chapel was erected. From 1918 in the independent Second Polish Republic. During this period, two shelters were put into use: in Wielka Racza and Przegibku. They were to be Polish competitors for the Beskidenverein shelters, including the hostel on Lipowska, put into use in 1931. In September 1939, the Żywiec region together with Rycerka Górna was incorporated into the Third Reich. The occupant carried out an action to displace the local population and replace it with settlers from Germany. The action was called Aktion Saybusch (Żywiec Action). The area of ​​the Polish partisans during the German occupation, and after 1945 also the anti-communist underground. In 1950, the chapel was raised to the rank of the parish church (parish of the Virgin of Perpetual Help). In 1955, a new edifice of the elementary school was opened. Modern times

The village has 1500 inhabitants. It consists of 61 dispersed parts, scattered at the foot and on the slopes of the mountains such as, for example, Praszywka or Bendoszka and pass, such as Przegibek and others. Tourist resort - 10 hiking trails, 3 ski lifts.
