Protocoid algae - algae from the group of greens, which together with fungi create lichens. These algae are found in about 90% of lichen species and are eukaryotes (the remaining 10% are cyanobacteria which are prokaryotes). In lichens algae is a photobionic.
Protocoidal algae are single-celled organisms with a spherical or nearly spherical shape and of a similar size as primates. According to the current taxonomy, it is only a contractual group of algae that is not a separate taxonomic entity.
