Johann Wenzel Anton Stamitz, also known as Jan Václav Antonín Stamic (born on 17 or 19 June 1717 in Havlíčkův Brod, died on March 27, 1757 in Mannheim) - Czech-German composer.
He worked as a bandmaster and violinist. He created symphonies, sonatas, trios, concerts and religious works. It grew out of baroque tradition, but it became one of the precursors of classicism. He was the founder of the Mannheim School. His sons Carl and Anton also became well-known musicians. Bibliography
