Mette Gjerskov
Mette Gjerskov (born July 28, 1966 in Gundsømagle, Roskilde County) is a Danish politician, parliamentarian and minister of agriculture in the years 2011-2013. Curriculum vitae
She was educated at Amtsgymnasiet and Roskilde, then in math, physics and chemistry at VUC Ballerup Adult Education. In 1993, she completed her agricultural studies at the Royal Agricultural and Veterinary University in Copenhagen. Since 1995 she has worked as an official in the Ministry of Food. Later employed in a consumer affairs agency and in a volunteer center. A longtime Danish Red Cross activist. In the years 1999-2004 she was the vice president of this organization.
She has been involved in political activities within the Socialdemocrat. For the first time, the Social Democrats won the mandate of Folketinget, successfully applying for re-election in the subsequent elections in 2007, 2011 and 2015. Since October 2011 she has been Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in the first Helle Thorning-Schmidt . It was canceled during the reconstruction of the Cabinet in August 2013.
