Alfred Angiersztajn


Alfred Angiersztajn pseud. Anerski, Gruby (born August 1, 1896 in Częstochowa, September 30, 1972 in Warsaw) - Communist and trade activist, deputy head of the Communications Division of the PPR (1945-1948).

Born in a working-class family, he finished 4th grade gymnasium and later became a locksmith at Strzemieszyce Railway (since 1915). From 1917, a helper in Warsaw, from 1919 he worked in the Railway Workers' Union (ZZK). 1919-1921 served in the military and returned to work on the railway, since 1926 a driver in Kutno. In 1926 he joined the Railway Machine Trade Union in Poland, 1929-1931 was the chairman of the Kutno Association. In 1930 he joined the Communist Party, 1932-1934 he worked in Warsaw and Grójec. From 1934, the secretary of the Municipal Committee (KMP) in Kutno, and in 1937 went to Spain to take part in the civil war. From January 1938 he fought in the Brig. J. Dąbrowski, in which he became a lieutenant. He joined KPH. In February 1939 he crossed the border with France and was interned at Gurs, then at Vernet d'Ariege. In 1941, he was sent to a labor camp in Leipzig, Germany. Shortly due to his state of health he was released and returned to Kutno, where he was a driver by the end of the occupation. From 1945 on PPR, he took part in the 1st PPR Congress in December 1945 as a delegate from Poznan. 1945-1948 was deputy head of the Communications Department of the PPR Central Committee, 1945-1957 was chairman of the Central Audit Committee of Trade Unions. Member of the Executive Branch of ZZK, and 1950-1970 Chairman of the Chief Audit Commission of ZZK. He was decorated with, among others. The Order of the Second Class Labor Medal, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Poland's Rebirth and the Cross of Valor. Bibliography
