Don Philp

Donald W. Philp (born 1926, d.?) is a South African racing driver, active in the 50s and 60s.

In his career he has been racing with sports cars, including Ferrari and Lotus. In 1962 he won the 2h Cape Race on Lotus Eleven. Two years later, following the GSM Flamingo, he finished second in the 6h South Africa competition.

In the early 1960s, he built a vehicle of his own in accordance with Formula One, Quodra. The Climax engine, gearbox and possibly wheels were from the previously purchased Philp Cooper T43. The driver staged his car in the 1961 season. Randu's Grand Prix and Natal Grand Prix did not finish, while the South African Grand Prix finished 14th. After these unsuccessful races, Philp decided that Cooper's parts used in Quodra would return to the original car.
