Makron (painter)
Stage of libation, interior of kylix
Makron (Μάκρων) - Athens ceramic painter working at the turn of the 6th and 5th century, creating a reddish style.
He specialized in decorating kyliks, which he attributed to over 250. He worked with potter Hieron, whose signature was discovered on more than 30 decorated works by him. He specialized in scenes from everyday life (feasts, banquets, courtesans) and Dionysian themes, although he also reached the mythological topic (Trojan War, the myths about Theus and Hercules). His work is characterized by a mild mood and an elegant expression of the character.
