Jan Kantakuzen (cezar)


Jan Kantakuzen (died after 1186) - Byzantine aristocrat and military, Caesar. Curriculum vitae

He was one of the victims of the terror unleashed by Andronik I Komnen (he was blinded in 1183). After gaining the authority of Isaac II, Angelos became his follower and received the title Caesar. In 1186 he was the commander of the expedition against the rebellious Bulgarians. His wife was Irena Angelos, sister of Isaac II of Angelus and of Alexei III of Angelos. His son was Michal Kantakuzen. Bibliography
