Ryszard Jan Sylwester Rząśnicki was born in 1840 in Tufumawce. On the eve of the outbreak of the January Uprising Rząśnicki was a lieutenant of the 28th Infantry Infantry Regiment, which was stationed in Piotrków. He worked in the conspiratorial organizations of tsarist officers, he was preparing the outbreak of insurrection in Piotrków. Piotrków's master plan did not come to fruition because of too much Russian force in the local garrison. January 24, 1863 took part in the unsuccessful action of Radomsk by Józef Grekowicz, the then war chief of the province. Kalisz. In this insurgent party he served as an officer in the rank of Major. He fought in the battles of Zawichost (8 February 1863), Miechow (17 February 1863), Greenhouses (5 April 1863). Under Szyce and Nowa Wieś (7 May 1863) commanded the firing squad. In July 1863 he was sent by the insurgent government to gather and organize troops after Józef Oxinski. In the woods near Jędrzejów he established a branch with which he joined Chmieleński. He fought with the Russians at Rudniki (28 July 1863), was wounded at the Battle of Obiechow (14 August 1863). On treatment he went to Cracow, after being convalesced he was appointed head of the Uprising Rifle School.
He then returned to Hauke-Bosak. He was assigned to the Karol Kality-Rębajła Stopnik's regiment. He was honored in the Battle of Huta Stratskaya (9 December 1863). Later he was the commanding officer of the Lancashire regiment. At the Battle of Bliżyn (16 March 1864) he contributed to the breakup of the Cuban Kossaks.
After the fall of the uprising he emigrated to Switzerland. In 1865 he lived in Geneva at Ludmiła Sgalgunowa. He emigrated to Russia as a young emigre, he collaborated with P. Jakobi, W. Luginin, A. Sierno-Sołowiejewicz and N.Słłgunow.
After returning to Poland he settled in Galicia, working as a conductor (inspector) of roads and bridges.
The wife of Rząśnicki was Helena of Przybylski, born in 1848 in Vilnius. In 1863 she was arrested for her activities in the insurgency organization.
Ryszard Rząśnicki died on March 24, 1893 in Wadowice, he was buried on March 27 at the Wadowice cemetery. Bibliography
