Egg (mushrooms)

Cross section through the egg of the stinkster

Egg - with some mushrooms young fruit with its shape and appearance resembling bird egg (hence its name). May have an oval shape, spherical or pear shaped. Such fruiting bodies are found in eg the row of shovels. The egg is surrounded by a peridot which grows during rupture (usually in the upper part), and from the soil filling the inside of the egg grows a mature form of the fruiting body, called the receptacle. The pericarp in egg type fruit is usually three-layer, sometimes double-layered. Its middle layer is gelatinous, the outer and inner layers are membranous and thin.

At the scavenger, the remains of the peridot remain on the ground, forming a vagina that surrounds the stem. In Australia the cover is radially cracked, and the arms created from it swivel to the sides, resulting in the appearance of the original look.
