Maria Danuta Kunisz (born 1924, died 1979) - Polish physicist, university teacher at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. In the years 1978-1979 she was the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University, then in the years 1979-1980 of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Jagiellonian University. She was the head of the Atomic Optics Division at the Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University.

The earliest mention of these creatures is dated to the fifth century BC, and its author is Herodotus. According to her, these ants inhabited the deserts of Persia and India and extracted gold from their sands. Several such creatures were kept in the residence of the King of Persia.
