Mary Elizabeth McGrath Blake


Mary Elizabeth McGrath Blake (born 1840, died 1907) is an American poet. She came from Ireland. She was the daughter of Patrick McGrath and Mary Murphy McGrath. When she was nine years old, she and her parents came to the United States. She was a teacher by profession. In 1865 she married a doctor named John G. Blake. They had eleven children, but only six of them lived to adulthood. Among other things, she published tonics Poems (1882) and Youth in Twelve Centuries (1886). She also wrote travel books.
