Ignaz Russ (older)
Ignaz Russ (born 1736 in Trutnov, died 1810) is a German painter active in Silesia.
The information about his work is very little known. Two portraits made by him are known by Johann Christian Gottfried Fritzsch's engraving. The first is a portrait of Daniel Buchs, a jeleniogórski merchant and owner of Wojanów, made in 1776 (made in 1781, is located in the National Museum in Wroclaw). The second portrait portrait is Karl Wilhelim Weiss, a pastor at the Grassland Church in Jelenia Góra.
He was the father of Ignaz Russ the younger (1766-1849), painter and sculptor active in Prague. Bibliography
