Castle Exaltator

Hradná vyvieračka - generous wywierzysko at the southeastern foothills of the Muránska Plain in Slovakia.

Position

Wywierzysko is located at an altitude of 425 m above sea level, at the south-eastern foothills of the steep slopes of the Cigánka mountain (935 m above sea level), on which the ruins of Murán Castle rise. It is located on the left side of the Muráň - Červená Skala road, about 2.5 km northeast of the first town. Characteristic

The wywierzysko has variable performance. The average yield is about 100 l / s, as a minimum - about 30 l / s. The maximum efficiency was estimated at approx. 5,000 l / s, but during the measurements, 8082 l / s were tracked, which is the highest efficiency of the wyryrzyska observed in Slovakia. It is assumed that the wyrzrzyki drains the entire Cigánka massif with the part of the plateau behind it, called Veľká lúka. According to the applications, the well at the castle Murura was to reach up to the level of this wywierzyska (it would have to be about 500 m deep!). History of cognition

Due to the location of a long-used road, at the foot of a castle that has been in operation since the Middle Ages, the area has been known to the public for a long time. It is currently used as a water intake for the town of Muráň.

In 2000, the wywierzyka was penetrated by speleologists. Dives allowed to sketch a map of parts of sunken chambers and corridors, but they did not provide information on their further sequence. Bibliography
