Orpheus Sarmaticus

Orpheus Sarmaticus - a poetic work by John Kochanowski in Latin accompanied by an epilogue for the Passion of Greek Deputies

According to Reinhold Heidenstein's account during the premiere of the closing ceremony, which took place on January 12, 1578, during Jan Zamoyski's wedding with Krystyna Radziwiłłówna, the poem was sung with lute accompaniment. The work appeared in print in 1578 with the first issue of the Reception in Warsaw by the mobile branch of the Krakow printing company Mikolaj Szarffenberger. Orpheus also took part in the posthumous edition of Kochanowski's works from the turn of 1585 and 1586. Bibliography
