Fernand Demets

Ferdinand Charles Gustave (Fernand) Demets (born March 18, 1884, September 29, 1952) is a Belgian industrialist, politician, senator.

He was a member of the local government of Anderlecht from 1911 to 1927 and mayor of the city from 1919 to 1927. He served as a senator from 1929 to 1945. From 1940 to 1945 he was vice president of the Liberal Party. From 1945 to 1945 he was the Minister of Defense of Belgium. From 1945 to 1951 he served as governor of Brabant.

In 1932 he was awarded the Commander's Cross Order of Polonia Restituta.
