Ethereal

Ethereal is a sniffer and packet analyzer capable of decoding multiple protocols.

Ethereal functionality is very similar to tcpdump, but Ethereal has a GUI and much more sorting and filtering options. Allows the user to see all network traffic by switching the network adapter into promiscuous mode.

Ethereal is distributed as FOSS, available on the following platforms:

Currently, Ethereal is no longer actively being developed. His successor is Wireshark.
