In the case of naming nicknames, the most common is the mechanism of precise prioprialisation, that is, the conversion of a common name into a proper name (Upper, Blacksmith). IMPORTANT: Signs of common name and nickname look the same. Sometimes - at the level of the Polish language - prioprialisation is accompanied by a cut (Mushroom from the name Grzybowska) or a paradigm shift (Push from the name of Pushkin). The nickname can also be created on the basis of the broadly understood phonetic (!) Sound similarity (House open from the name of Tomaszewka and Robot from the name of Chrobot).

The earliest mention of these creatures is dated to the fifth century BC, and its author is Herodotus.
