George Lillo


George Lillo (born February 4, 1693 in London, died on September 3, 1793 there) - English dramaturg.

He was the son of a Dutch goldsmith. He was a pioneer in England of a genre called "home tragedy". he wrote prose, among others The London Merchant drama (published in 1955 in the collection of the English bourgeois drama of the 18th century), and the white line Fatal Curiosity from 1736. The London merchant was based on an old ballad and inspired by the Elizabethan drama of passion; talks about a London student who robs his master three times and murders his uncle, and finally repents; he's lost anyway.
