Eduard Linnemann


Eduard Linnemann (born 2 February 1841 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, died April 24, 1886 in Prague, Czech Republic) is a German chemist.

Curriculum vitae

He studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg, continuing his studies at the University of Karlsruhe. After receiving his diploma he went to Ghent, where he worked with Friedrich August Kekulé von Stradonitz at his university. He then moved to Lviv, where he began his scientific work at the University under the direction of Leopold von Pebel. In 1865 he became a professor, seven years later he went to Brno, where he lectured at the University until 1875, then became a professor at Charles University in Prague and served until his death. thesis

He conducted research on mannitol and analyzed the structure of zirconium. In 1886 he was convinced that he discovered a new chemical element and named it Austria. After his death, it was proved that Austria is a derivative of gallium and is not a new element. Publications Bibliography
