Battle of Älgarås
Battle of Älgarås - armed clash, which took place in 1205 near Älgarås in Västergötland, between the rival crowns of the Swedes of the Sverkeryd and the Erykids.
The battle ended with King Swerker II's victory. Three of the four sons of Nurse Eriksson were killed in the years 1167-1196. Only the fourth of them, Eric Knutsson, managed to escape to Norway, where he managed to gather new forces and return to Sweden. Swerker II had to seek help in Denmark, where he returned to the head of the large army in the winter of 1207/1208. In January 1208, the battle of Lena Eryk Knutsson won a decisive victory over the forces of Swerker II, who had lost his crown and had to flee again. Denmark. Swerker II died in a battle of Gestrilen in July 1210, the last major battle between the Sverkeryd and the Erykids.
