Anna Maria Ortese (born 14 June 1914 in Rome, died March 10, 1998 in Rapallo) is an Italian writer and poet, author of travel reports. <<> She spent her childhood in Naples, where she stayed during the war. She often changed her place of residence (Florence, Trieste, Venice) to settle in Rapallo. In 1934, she published the first story, Il Pelliross, the impetus for his writing was the death of her brother, the sailor. In 1937, at the suggestion of Massimo Bontempelli, she published her first volume of stories Angelici dolori. After the war, she traveled extensively, including to Paris, London and Moscow, which resulted in reports published in the press. Her novel Poveri e Semplici was awarded the Stregi Prize in 1967.
