Świętopełk (Duke of Obodrzycki)

Świętopełk (died 1129) - Prince of Obodrytów in the years 1127-1129, son of Henryk Gotszalkowica.

After his father's death, he took over the Obodrites proper and the Chyans, while his brother, Kanut, lived a little more in the west of Wagram. There was a civil war in which allied Sultan Świętopełk took over Wagria and murdered his brother. He tried to impose his authority on Ranom and Wielet, but was defeated, and after being burned by the enemy Lübeck escaped to the Sasso, where he was soon murdered by one of the mighty ones. Shortly afterwards, his son Zwinike (Swietoslawski) was murdered, which led to the expulsion of the Nuns from the 10th century. Bibliography
