Marcin Trzebieński


Marcin Trzebieński, Jastrzębiec's coat of arms (died after 1537) - courtier of Zygmunt I Old, royal captain, guardian of the crown.

Curriculum vitae

He came from a noble family of Trzebieńscy coat of arms Jastrzębiec, originating from the Ruthenian province. A professional soldier, he served in the defense of the common. In 1509 he became a royal captain, in the years 1511-1513 he was subordinate to Jan Toworowski. In 1520, he broke two thousandth Tatar war in Podolia, then commanded a 700-horsepower squadron. As an infantry commander he took part in the second phase of the Polish-Teutonic War. After the war, in recognition of his wartime merits, he became the guard of the royal court and court of Sigismund I of the Old, and also received income from the rent paid by Jews from Żydaczowa. In 1520 he commanded a 600-horsepower regiment of common defense, which included the flagstones of Bełska, Podolski and Ruska. In 1531, on the expedition of Jan Tarnowski's henchman on the penitentiary, against the Moldavian hospodar, Raresz appeared with his own 8-post mail. In the battle of Obertyn as lieutenant, he commanded the Queen's flag (284 horses), which was part of the bulkhead. This formation led to the final victory of the crown army against the Moldavian army. Marcin Trzebieński died after 1537, contemporary Bernard Wapowski wrote about him in the chronicle: brave husband and experienced martial artist. Bibliography
