Jean Formont


Jean Formont, Forman, Formont, Fromont (born 1620 in Paris - died April 19, 1689 in Gdansk) - French diplomat, merchant and banker.

He was from a Huguenot Rouen merchant bank. In the years 1661-1677 he was a resident of France in Gdańsk. On 13 June 1677 he married in Adelgund von Heemskerk (1645-1702). Her daughter, also Adelgund (1678-1750), was married to a merchant of Albrecht Groddeck (1670-1751); one of the sons of this couple, and the grandson of Jean Formont was mayor of Gdansk Carl Groddeck.

He was buried in the St. Mary's Church in Gdansk.

The function of the resident of France in Gdańsk was also his brother Daniel Formont (since 1689). Bibliography Sources
