Traditional Swedish rug Rya. In Sweden there are carpets of various designs and shapes. Originally inspired by traditionally woven oriental carpets, which in the Middle Ages was brought to Sweden from the Ottoman Empire. In time, they began to produce their own carpets. Using oriental technique of weaving, they introduced themes and themes from their own artistic traditions. In the twentieth century the Swedes, mainly due to Märta Måås-Fjetterström, developed their own unique style of carpet design. Thanks to its creativity, in the mid 20th century, Swedish carpets became very popular and recognized among designers all over the world.
