Biological munitions

Biological munitions - these are artillery shells, air bombs, etc., filled with biological agents. The biological ammunition consists of a hull, a tank containing a biological agent, an explosive charge and a fuse. When a biological ammunition ruptures, an aerosol of the pathogen contaminates the air, the terrain and everything on it.

The biological ammunition can be filled with dry or liquid bacterial recipes, viruses or toxins of natural origin. First used by the Japanese in the war with Mongolia in 1939 in the Chałchyn-Goł region and against China in 1940-42.

According to the 1925 Geneva Convention on the Use of Chemical and Biological Weapons, it is prohibited to manufacture, conduct research and storage of such ammunition by States Parties to the Protocol. Bibliography
