Decade for Roma in Europe


Decade for the Roma in Europe - an initiative of eight Central and South-Eastern European countries to improve the social and economic status and reduce the discrimination of the Roma (Gypsy) minority in the whole region.

Initiative from 2005 to 2015. This was the first European project to improve the lives of the Roma.

The countries in which the large minority of Roma live: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia and Hungary, and the European Commission, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and the philanthropist George Soros .

In 2005, the governments of the above countries started to work to reduce the economic and social gap between the Roma and the rest of society and to reduce Roma poverty and discrimination. Bibliography
