The masquerade in the clouds is an overhead trip to the North Sea - Theodor Tripplin's adventure novel, published in 1856.
The journey described in this book began in London. The hero traveled to England, France and Switzerland. The first volume deals with a balloon trip and the other is a journey through France and Switzerland in search of love. The hero, along with a balloon pilot and travel companion he did not know, went on a balloon trip. They flew to France from where they returned to the British Isles to reach the North Sea. From there, by boat, they returned to London. The second volume is a few years later and describes the journey of a Polish doctor in Europe who mourned the death of a traveling companion he secretly loved. Bibliography
