Manfred Mayrhofer (born on September 26, 1926 in Linz, died on October 31, 2011 in Vienna) - Austrian Indian linguist and indoeuropeanist.
In 1957 he became a professor at the University of Würzburg, and in 1966 in Vienna. He was a member and secretary of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and from 1978 the Polish Academy of Sciences. He wrote a lot of works on the grammar and etymology of Old and Middle-Indian languages as well as on the languages of the Persians, including Kurzgefans les etymologisches Wörterbuch des Altindischen (1986), and he was the editor of the work Indogermanische Grammatik (1986) Bibliography
