Genaro Fueyo Castañón (born on January 23, 1864 in Linares on October 20, 1936 in Madrid) - a Spanish priest, victim of the Spanish Civil War, blessed of the Catholic Church.

He was born on January 23, 1864 in the south of Spain. In 1899 he became parish priest in Nembra and thanks to his hard work, his parish became a center of social and religious life. On October 20, 1936, together with Isidro Fernández and Segundo, Alonso González was imprisoned and murdered in his parish.

In 1991, his beatification process began. In 2016, Pope Francis signed a decree recognizing his martyrdom. On October 8 of the same year, in the cathedral of Oviedo under the leadership of Cardinal Angelo Amato, the ceremonial beatification of Genaro and his companions took place. Comments
