Edward (Eddie) Newman (born May 14, 1953 in Liverpool) is a British politician, self-government and trade union activist, Member of the European Parliament, 2nd and 3rd term. Curriculum vitae

He worked as a full time trade union activist in the Manchesters 'Union of Workers' Union. In 1970 he joined the Labor Party. Between 1984 and 1999, he served as a member of the MEPs for three terms, joining the socialist factions. He was the Chairman and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Petitions and the Vice-President of the Commission for Regional Policy and Regional Planning. Since 2002 he has been elected councilor of Manchester City Council. From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the executive committee of the city council responsible for housing.
