John McBryde


John McBryde (born 9 March 1939 in Maryborough) is an Australian field hockey player, Olympic medalist.

He was in defense. He played at the Olympic Games in Rome, where he played in eight matches; with the team in sixth place. Four years later, at the Tokyo Games, he finished third with the team and bronze medal in the Olympics (he also played in eight matches). He did not score in any of these tournaments.

He was captain of the "bronze Olympic team" at the Tokyo Games. He played in the national team again in 1966. He later emigrated to Canada, where he developed his coaching career. In the 70s and 80s he even coached national teams (both male and female). Curriculum vitae
