Christ died from the dead

From the death, Christ the Lord rose up - a Polish medieval Easter song.

The song was written in the Kancjonale Przeworszczyk from 1435, but it could have been created at the end of the 14th or early 15th century. It is a translation of the Latin Surrexit Christus hodie. The work consists of seven two-handed verses, written in irregular octave with even rhymes. The song begins with joyful acclamation and reminiscent of Christ's saving death. It is followed by a motif of three women going to the tomb of Jesus. Finally, the praise of the Holy Trinity is placed. Bibliography
