Since 2013 he was the director of one of the departments in the health ministry. In 2012 he was elected to the district council of Bihor.

In the European elections in May 2014, the leftist coalition centered around the PSD ran for the Eighth VIII term. The mandate of the MEP took place in November of the same year in place of Corina Creţu. He joined the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
