Stop the clock at eleven

Stop the clock at eleven o'clock - police novel (crime) by Barbara Nawrocka, published in 1973. The novel takes place in 1971 and begins with the murder of a watchmaker who lives in a wooden cottage in Warsaw's Bródno (the author describes this district and the rapid urban changes taking place at the time in the neighborhood). The investigation is conducted by Captain Korda, assisted by Deputy Zygmunt Gabler. The captain is an officer with a high tendency to reflect - the narrator acquaints the readers with the internal monologues of the militiaman. The case dates back to 1943, when the 17-man partisan detachment fell into the German ambush in the unnamed town. Knocked-in was probably the effect of the denunciation of an unknown person.

The novel was awarded in a competition organized by the Headquarters of Militia Obywatelska and the publishing house "Iskry".
