St. James the Elder as a pilgrim - image of a Spanish painter of Greek origin Dominikos Theotokopulos, known as El Greco.

Several versions of Apostle James the Elder are known as pilgrims. The earliest date is from the years 1594-1597 and is in the Hispanic Society of America.

Jakub stands on a hill, at the bottom there is a panorama of the city and trees. The lower perspective makes the figure of the apostle even bigger. Behind him there is a clouded sky. He was in the collection of J. Stchoukine in Paris and at the Ehrich Galleries in New York. Other versions

Another, almost identical, copy is mentioned by Harold Wethey in his monograph, El Greco and his school. The attribution attributed to the El Greco studio; The picture dates from 1610-1614.
