Romano Bottegal (born December 28, 1921 in San Donato di Lamon, Belluno, February 19, 1978 in Beirut, Lebanon) is an Italian venerable servant of the Catholic Church. Curriculum vitae

Romano Bottegal was born on December 28, 1921 as the youngest of six children of his parents. In 1946 he was ordained a priest. After priestly ordination he entered the abbey of the Three Fountains in Rome. There he made a solemn profession in 1951, and then in the courses at the Gregorian University he obtained a license in theology in 1953. He died of tuberculosis at Beirut Hospital on February 19, 1978 after 14 years as a hermit. He was buried at Santa Barbara Cathedral. The beatification process is ongoing. December 9, 2013, Pope Francis proclaimed him venerable. Bibliography
