Joseph Rumshinsky


Rumshinsky (ok. 1900) Joseph Rumshinsky (born 1879 in Vilnius, February 6, 1956 in New York) is an American composer of Jewish origin.

He studied with Polish musician Henryk Meltzer at the Warsaw Conservatory. In 1919 he began working at the Kessler Second Avenue Theater in New York's Jewish Theater District. As a composer, he has been working in New York for over 40 years. He released his memoirs in 1944 under the title Klangen fun mayn lebn. He composed the opera Ruth, which he wrote in Hebrew.
