Manuel da Fonseca
Manuel da Fonseca (born October 15, 1911 in Santiago, Céché, March 11, 1993 in Lisbon), Portuguese writer. He was a representative of Portuguese neorealism, in his work he showed above all the social problems and the difficult fate of the peasants from the Alentejo's agricultural province. His most important works are novels (eg Cerromaior from 1943, Seara de Vento 1958, 1977 edition), collections of short stories (eg Aldeia nova 1942) and poetry (eg Rosa dos ventos 1940, poemas completos 1958, the selection of songs from the passages 1979). He belonged to the Portuguese Communist Party.
