Company standard

Factory standard (werksnorm, usually denoted by the symbol ZN in Poland) - technical standard developed, established and applied in the workplace / company. It is the oldest type of standardization document used in various countries since the first half of the 19th century.

Specifies the in-plant requirements that a product or process must fulfill to be considered functional. Factory standards shall be established by the management of the establishment at the request of the normalizator or factory standardizers. These standards are not covered by statutory provisions (like the Polish Standard) but are only factory documentation.

In Poland until 1993, the drafting and setting of company standards was governed by the provisions of the Act on Standardization. Since 1994, factory standardization has been subject to internal regulations. Bibliography
