Informal education
Non-formal education ("Learning through practice") - a lifelong process of developing attitudes, values, skills and knowledge on the basis of various experiences and the impact of educational environment (family, friends, work environment, play, market) media.
The rise of the importance of informal education results directly from the development of civilization and the technological world. Because computers and modern communication means the world is changing rapidly, it is imperative that we complement our knowledge of the phenomena around us. Through the various forms of informal education, we are able to make up for this lack of knowledge as quickly as possible.
The advantage of non-formal education is that it usually does not impose a rigid framework on the learning process (although it is possible, in the case of incorporating courses and training). Very often informal education is connected with fun or entertainment, which is best seen in Edutainment programs. In this way education is not only useful but also more enjoyable for the learner. Informal education in the European Union
There are currently two major programs in the European Union that deal with informal education: the Youth in Action Program and the Lifelong Learning Program, European educational space.
The aim of this first is to support the activities of young people in their free time, ie informal education. The program is addressed to people aged 13-30 and youth workers.
The aim of the second program is to support the implementation of a variety of educational activities, the extension of European cooperation and exchange in the field of education. The program includes several components and covers different groups of lifelong learners - from kindergartens to third-tier universities.
The term informal education will appear more and more often. The Polish Youth Strategy, adopted by the Council of Ministers on 19 August 2003, emphasizes the importance of informal education in equal opportunities. The European Commission and the Council of Europe are working on solutions to increase the recognition of the experience gained in informal education. Also the Ministry of National Education allocates significant financial resources to support non-formal education during extra-curricular activities.
