Pawel Zygmunt


Paweł Jan Zygmunt (born July 15, 1972 in Krosno) - Polish speed skater, Olympian, multiple country champion.

He was at the Lillehammer Games in 1994, Nagano in 1998, Salt Lake City in 2002 and Turin in 2006. He is a 40-time champion of Poland at 1000 m, 1500 m, 3000 m, 5000 m, 10,000 m in skating. and the record of Poland at distances of 3000 m, 5000 m, 10,000 m in skating multiplayer. Pawel Zygmunt took second place at the European Championship in Erfurt in 2002 at a distance of 10 000 m, as well as 3rd place at the Heerenveen World Championship in 2002 at a distance of 10,000 m and at the European Championship in 2003 at 5000 m.

In 2006 he ended his professional career. He is a member of the Technical Commission of the International Skating Union. It also works in the Polish Olympic Committee. In 2010, he was unsuccessful from the PO list to the Małopolska regional council.

He is married to Katarzyna Zygmunt, a sports psychologist and ice hockey referee. They have three sons, including Paul, who became a hockey player. Bibliography
