Manawydan fab Llŷr - son of Llyr, Welsh god of the sea, equivalent of the Irian Manannana.

Its relationship with the sea is not clear. He is known to have been the Brother of Blessed Branwen and Branwen. He married Riannon after the death of her first husband, Pwyll.

In one of the legends it has much to do with the world of mortals. One day his castle was covered in a wonderful mist with his family: Riannon, son of Pryderi and his wife Cigfa. When the fog fell, the country around them and the castle completely disappeared. They went to England, where Manawydan and Pryderi had hired to work on the skin. They did their work with such craftsmanship that local craftsmen forced them to leave the area. Upon their return to Wales, Pryderi and Riannon miraculously disappeared, leaving Cigfa and Manavydan alone, who, in order to keep them alive, tried to sow wheat. But it was impossible by the plague of the mouse that hit his fields. He caught one of the rodents and would have killed him, but at the same time, a wanderer appeared, who was ready to give him everything he wanted. Manawydan asked Riannon and Pryderi to return. The stranger agreed to meet this request. It turned out to be a wizard Llwyd, a friend of Gwala, one of the solicitors Riannon rejected to marry Pwyll. Bibliography
