Jan Zając (martyr)


Jan Zając (born 11 December 1911 in Gaci, died 12 February 1945 in Dachau) - Polish Catholic priest, Jesuit, Servant of God Catholic Church.

He was an interlocutor in the Publishing House of the Apostolate of Prayer. He was arrested by the Germans on November 10, 1939 and imprisoned in the Montelupich prison, in February 1940 transferred to prison in Wiśnicz, and then in June 1940 to the Auschwitz camp. On December 12, 1940, he was found in the Dachau camp numbered 22204. He died during the typhoid epidemic in the camp.

He is one of the 122 Servants of God to whom on September 17, 2003, the beatification process of the second group of martyrs from the Second World War began.
